The Final 24 hours

I can't sleep anymore, I'm too excited!

All these months of planning, and we finally get to make my vision a reality. We get to start decorating tomorrow night, and I'm super eager to get to work. Lucky for me, I have Victoria to distract me from the nervousness.

After a lot of pondering, I decided to take the day before the wedding off from work. Originally, I was going to work half the day because why not? However, I'm finding out that I'm very distracted in between projects, so it's better in the long run to do it this way.

Just for the heck of it, I'm going to throw some numbers at you

500 white cupcake liners
350 ivory plates
200 pink napkins
200 gold napkins

Yeah, we are officially down to the wire!

and then there was one..week to go

We are at six days and counting until the wedding.

I can't believe that it still feels so surreal; we made our last handful of wedding purchases yesterday, and all we have left to do is decorate and show up.

I'm not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to set in, but that is to be expected right?

I've been watching 'Father of the Bride' on a loop for the last three weeks, and I'm feeling pretty good.

Joy

You know, I've been a bit stressed lately.

The fiscal year ended, which means lots of chaos at work, class is winding down, which means groups projects and presentations, and the wedding is next week, which means last-minute arrangements. Added together, with a dash of loneliness (because I'm living alone until Sam moves in), and chronic insomnia, makes for a stressed out me.

So, I've been turning to small comforts to help me get through my last few days of stuff. Some of those comforts have included Dr. Pepper, Oreos, watching Studio C clips and Backstreet Boys music videos, and stretching.

So, please enjoy a list of things that bring me joy:

1-Cafe Rio's Fire-grilled Steak Quesadilla

2-"Everybody (Backstreet's Back" music video

3-Dr. Pepper

4-"Dana's Dead" from Studio C

5-"The Chipmunk Adventure" movie

The loss of President Packer

"If you stumble, rise up, go on."

Boy, do I know what it means to do this.

Rest in Peace Pres. Packer!

A missing piece

I'd never really had an interest in family history until Sam and I started dating. It was one of his big hobbies, but his church calling had made it a challenge to get any work done. Back in February, he decided that we needed to go to the Family History Museum for a date, and I began to build my family tree. I knew I would have some roadblocks on my maternal grandmother's side of the family, but I didn't realize just how many I'd come across.

My grandmother's grandparents were David Freedman and Rachel Segal. They were born in 1868 and 1878, respectively, and immigrated to the United States in 1902 from Romania on a ship called Haverford.

They had five children: Carl, Bennie, Louis, Adelia, and Bernard. The first three were born in Romania and came over on the ship, but my great-grandmother Adelia was the first child born in the United States.

I can't seem to get much information beyond their immigration document. I don't know when David & Rachel married (or where), where they lived, who their parents were, etc.

I'm determined to find it though.

I want to know where I come from.

I want to find the missing piece.
