Tell a friend's story (fake it if you have to)
The 500 Words
My good friend is getting married tomorrow. We’ve been super
close ever since we met about 16 months ago, and I don’t think that either of
us thought she would meet and marry the guy of her dreams so soon after. So, I
have often wondered what it felt like the first time her met her, what he said
to her, and how he managed to convince her that he was her Prince Charming.
I imagine that it went something like this:
It was just another Sunday at <insert the name of the
singles ward> and things were routine as usual. As he began mingling with
his friends following the Sacrament meeting, he spotted a bright and shiny new
redhead sitting in the back. The first thing he noticed about her was her
smile; it was sweet, sincere, and classy. She wore a black and white polka-dot
blouse beneath a soft yellow cardigan paired with a black skirt and shiny red
shoes. The word classy was the perfect descriptor, but it still didn’t do her
justice. This was made clear by the delicate strand of pearls she wore around
her neck.
He knew she was out of his league, but he was instantly
smitten with her from the moment they first spoke. She was a nurse at a local
clinic, and he could see why. She had all the right qualities necessary to keep
things organized but still provide excellent bedside manner. Her people skills
were phenomenal, which was probably why she enjoyed serving her mission as much
as she did. She was like sunshine in human form.
Flash forward to their first date, which I’m guessing had
something to do with Sherlock Holmes or Doctor Who. He probably couldn’t take
his eyes off of her the entire night. He was too busy dying from happiness on
the inside because he had gotten such an amazing woman to agree to go on a date
with him. It wasn’t that he wasn’t a catch himself, but he felt this
overwhelming sense of joy whenever he thought about her.
He still wasn’t sure how he managed to get her to fall for
him, but six months after they began dating, the topic of marriage came up. It
was his dream come true! He had never met a woman quite like her; she was so
smart, attentive, kind, genuine, and just wonderful overall. Not a day could go
by without them wanting to see each other.
They got engaged before she headed off for a European
vacation with her friends, he did this on purpose because he knew that if she
were heading off on this amazing adventure without him, he needed to put a ring
on it, ASAP. Hearing her say yes was the single greatest moment of his life. He
was in love with this amazing woman, and she had agreed to become his wife.
Now here it was, the night before their wedding. Life couldn’t get any better than this.
